Hand carved—not laser engraved

Real depth changes

Surface engraving can be quick and uniform. Celtic Slateworks uses slower traditional carving. This keeps genuine depth and the maker’s touch in every finished piece.

Relief carved

The surrounding slate is removed so the design stands proud. It requires substantially more carving time and creates the greatest depth and shadow.

V-carved

Lettering and detail are cut by hand with crisp angled channels. It is traditional and tactile. It is very different from a surface mark.

Laser engraving

No lasers are used at Celtic Slateworks. Your quote reflects the design work and time needed to carve natural slate by hand.

Each commission can feature traditional Celtic detail or clean modern lettering. The design is developed for its purpose and the chosen slate.

Design approval

The wording and layout are agreed before the first cut. We also confirm the carving method, size and mounting.

Honest timing

Share the required date and delivery postcode. A realistic carving and delivery schedule is confirmed before payment.

Secure Square payment

You approve the design and quote first. Payment is then requested securely through Square.

Tracked delivery

The finished piece is carefully protected for transit and sent using tracked delivery.
